Woman buys scratch-off at local gas station, wins $5 million

RALEIGH — Patricia Osborne, of Taylorsville, won a $5 million top prize in the Millionaire Bucks scratch-off game after purchasing her ticket at Market Basket in Conover, N.C. Education Lottery officials announced on Wednesday.

Osborne opted for a lump sum payout of $3 million instead of the annuity, taking home $2,152,508 after taxes.

The Millionaire Bucks game, which debuted in October, still has three $5 million prizes and nine $100,000 prizes unclaimed. Alexander County has benefited from lottery funds, receiving $5.4 million for school renovations.
