CHARLOTTE — Veteran restaurateur Rob Duckworth shuttered two of his restaurants this week. But he’s already hammering out plans to expand his portfolio after acquiring a new Tex-Mex concept.
Duckworth’s Ballantyne closed after a 12-year run in south Charlotte, and Link & Pin closed after five years in South End.
Still, he remains bullish on the region’s restaurant market — even as the number of closings tick up.
“At the pace in which restaurants are opening here, I feel like there could be more turnover,” he says.
Looking ahead, Duckworth says bringing Chili Willi’s Tex Mex Grill to Charlotte is a priority.
