CHARLOTTE — The United Way of Greater Charlotte is calling on the community to help recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The organization will hold its annual MLK Call To Service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at Life Project at Northside Charlotte.
Organizers say the goal is to have 500 volunteers and 20 nonprofit partners of the United Way help pack food kits for neighbors in need.
The United Way will distribute the kits to Title I schools and the participating nonprofits for the people they serve.
The United Way of Greater Charlotte is still looking for about 200 people to give their time on Saturday.
