CHARLOTTE — Six people were shot in Charlotte Saturday morning.
Two victims died across three separate scenes.
The violence began at 2 a.m. at the apartments in the 8800 block of Hollow Creek Circle.
“My mother has been in this complex for six years and I’ve been here for five,” said Tara Buckley, a resident.
Some of the shots landed right outside of Tara Buckley’s apartment, damaging several cars. Buckley lives at the complex with her 80-year-old mother.
“It seems like everyone got a gun, it scares you,” Tara’s mother, Patricia Buckley said. “Honey, when I can hear it loud and clear and those shots were strong, very strong.”
A couple of hours later, police responded to a lounge in the 5000 block of Independence Boulevard. Three people were shot. Two survived, but Shawn Davis died at the hospital.
“That altercation led to shots being fired. There were three uniform CMPD officers in marked vehicles nearby, working in an off-duty capacity. Those officers immediately responded,” said Major Stephen Fischbach of the CMPD.
This morning around 7:30 a.m., there was a shooting in the 400 block of East Trade Street. It occurred near where an ambulance was shot Thursday. The injuries in Saturday’s case were not life-threatening and police did make an arrest.
Two people were shot at the University City apartments. Brenton Samuels died. The other victim survived.
“This is last straw situation,” said Tara Buckley. “My nephew comes over a lot and we’re not going to put him or anybody else in our family in danger.”
While police have identified the victims, they said they need help figuring out who the suspects are. If you think you can help, they ask that you please give them a call.
