DURHAM.N.C. — A Durham organization is furloughing hundreds of workers in North Carolina in the wake of the Trump administration freezing funding for foreign aid.
FHI 360 late yesterday said it is furloughing 36% of its staff, including 200 in North Carolina.
“We take fiscal responsibility very seriously and recognize that exemplary stewardship of our financial resources is essential to carrying out our mission effectively,” the organization said in a statement. “The furloughs are due to the pause of U.S. foreign assistance funding and programs.”
FHI does work around the world with a focus on education, health care and nutrition, democracy and government, and economic development.
