It happened at about 6:40 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the McDonald Parkway Exit.

A 2025 Acura Integra struck Bruce Matthew Hoyle, 35, of Hickory, who died at the scene, investigators said.

The 35-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.
