CHARLOTTE — Testimony resumed Thursday in the trial of Terry Conner and Steven Staples, accused of murdering Noda sandwich shop owner Scott Brooks.
On Wednesday, jurors were presented with evidence from a 2020 double murder case, which prosecutors claim involves the same suspects, Conner and Staples.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Sgt. Brandon Sinnott led the investigation into the 2020 case.
In the 2020 case, Asa Shannon and Siojvon Joseph were found shot to death inside an SUV on Atando Avenue.
Sgt. Sinnott described the scene as ransacked, with chairs tipped over, drawers pulled out, and personal items thrown around.
Detectives used cellphone data to connect Everett Connor to his brother Terry Conner and Steven Staples, whose phones pinged off a tower near the homicide.
