Galleria Mall shooting victim to face charges, police say

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A 26-year-old man, Martrell Telly Minter, was shot in the shoulder at the Galleria Mall on Friday afternoon and will be charged, Rock Hill police said.

Police reported that Minter, a resident of Chester, was the agitator in the incident, verbally and physically assaulting the shooter. The shooter acted in self-defense and will not face charges.

The shooting occurred in an entryway to the Rock Hill mall, where Minter confronted the shooter.

There was no threat to the public, the Rock Hill Police Department said.

Minter, who was in critical condition, was taken to Piedmont Medical Center. He will be charged with assault and battery in the third-degree and will face a judge after he gets medical treatment.

Channel 9 Skyzoom flew to the mall after the shorting where there was not an overwhelming amount of law enforcement. We also could see people going in and out of the mall.
