CHARLOTTE — If you’re headed to the airport this week, you may notice a change in traffic.
As of Thursday, rideshares will now drop off and pick up passengers at a new spot at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Channel 9′s Eli Brand was at the airport Thursday morning where officials told him they hope the change could ease congestion.
Rideshares like Uber and Lyft will now use the inner lane in the upstairs portion of the terminal.
Signage is in place, letting riders and drivers know where to go with the change.
Airport officials said this should improve traffic flow and operations, as well as make better use of curb space.
The airport has been working for months to try and ease congestion.
Last year, they opened more inner lanes in departures and opened two skybridges that connect the hourly deck with the terminal.
Charlotte Douglas is the seventh busiest airport in the world and had around 60 million passengers in 2024.
