Permits filed for redevelopment of former Manor Theatre

CHARLOTTE — Construction could soon start on Charlotte’s former Manor Theatre in Eastover.

In January, the city announced the historic theater located on Providence Road would become apartments.

The Charlotte Observer reports the developers behind the project filed a construction plan permit with the city of Charlotte Monday.

The proposal includes apartments, retail space and road improvements.

The theater closed down in 2020 after 70 years in operation. At the time, it was Charlotte’s last art-house theater. That role has since been filled by Independent Picture House, which opened in 2022.
