SHELBY, N.C. — A person died after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon outside the Cleveland County Agricultural Fair, police said.
It happened just before 3 p.m. on the 1700 block of East Marion Street.

According to the Shelby Police Department, a 79-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle while crossing the roadway.
The woman was then taken to an area hospital, where she would later die from her injuries.
Police said the investigation into this incident is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Shelby Police Department at 704-484-6845.
