Police investigating deadly northwest Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE — Police are investigating a shooting in northwest Charlotte, where most of the activity took place inside a Wingstop store on Beatties Ford Road.

Police said that was the crime scene. They were called to the location just a few minutes after 7 p.m.

When officers got there, they found one man shot inside the store. MEDIC arrived and tried to provide life-saving measures, but the man passed away.

Police told Channel 9 the victim was not an employee of the restaurant. Major Michael Anderson spoke to us about what took place.

“Does robbery appear to be the motive here? It’s early, don’t want to speculate,” Major Anderson said. “The biggest thing is we do know this is an isolated incident. I don’t want to speculate on what caused this to occur, but once we get further into this investigation, we’ll get information out.”

There were employees inside the restaurant when the shooting happened, but thankfully no one else was injured.

Police have not released the victim’s name or age.
