CONCORD, N.C. — A woman and her dogs were killed in an RV park fire in Concord early Friday morning.
According to a release, the Concord Fire Department responded to the blaze on Amy Lane Northwest just before 1 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found one RV fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to two neighboring RVs. Firefighters say they managed to bring the fire under control by 1:07 a.m.
Channel 9’s Miana Massey was at the scene Friday and witnessed the trail of destruction the fire left behind, including charred metal, melted debris, and heartbreak for neighbors who saw it happen.
A man was able to escape with minor burns on his hands, but tragically, neighbors say his wife and four dogs were killed in the fire.
Officials say two residents from the neighboring RVs were also treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
One neighbor said this loss is heartbreaking.
“It’s devastating, sad,” they said. “Nobody deserves to have their home taken by a fire, nobody deserves to have their life taken by a fire. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.”
A total of 42 firefighters from Concord Fire, Harrisburg Fire, and Charlotte Fire departments responded to the incident.
The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
