UNION COUNTY, N.C. — An 18-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash on Shannon Road and Verrazano Drive on Sunday afternoon, troopers said.
The crash occurred at 3:17 p.m. when a 2011 Suzuki motorcycle, traveling north on Shannon Road in Union County, collided with a boat being towed by a Toyota Tacoma heading south.
The Toyota was making a left turn onto Verrazano Drive when the motorcycle struck the boat, ejecting the rider, troopers said. The motorcyclist, identified as Dillon Anthony Glock, was transported to Atrium Main where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:38 p.m.
Authorities noted that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time.
