Man accused of sexual battery in parking lot of busy Huntersville shopping center

A woman was leaving the Target at the Northcross Shopping Center Thursday when Huntersville Police said 25-year-old Brendan Pierre grabbed her inappropriately.

Police say the woman then started chasing him but lost sight of him outside the nearby Marshalls.

It was in that parking lot, police say he exposed himself to a different woman and asked if she wanted to have sex with him.

Huntersville Police responded and got into a short foot chase with him before taking him into custody.

“For any parent, that is super creepy and super scary,” said parent Nomi Burton.

The incident is extremely disturbing, Burton said.

She says there are a lot of preschools around, and she is glad no kids saw what happened.

“It is like you have to constantly be looking around to see what is happening because the crimes I feel like just keep going up,” Burton said.

Melissa Ross and her daughter, Paeton, were also shocked to hear what happened.

“It is horrible that this is how we live today, that women can’t go anywhere without men preying on them,” Ross said.

Ross said people must stay vigilant.

“I’m not trying to down on men, but the fact of the matter is we should be able to go shopping without being preyed upon,” Ross said.

Pierre was charged with misdemeanor sexual battery, indecent exposure, and resisting a public officer.

He was given a $5,000 unsecured bond, which means he doesn’t have to pay anything to get out of jail. He has been ordered to stay away from all Targets in Mecklenburg County.
