HUNTERSVILLE — Local distiller Jon Murto puts his moonshine-making skills to the test on a national stage on Tuesday night. Murto, owner of Murto Made Distillery, competes on the episode of “Master Distiller” that airs at 9 p.m. It’s on the Discovery Channel.
A viewing party starts at 5 p.m. at Murto Made’s Huntersville and Moorseville locations. The event also marks the debut of the distiller’s Carolina Whiskey, which is available for cocktails and bottle sales.
Murto says “Master Distiller” contacted him, and three days later he was asked to be on the show. Within weeks, he was in Asheville filming at Two Tree Distilling Co.
Episodes of “Master Distiller” pit three distillers against each other in a theme-based challenge.
