Judge declines to halt construction at controversial Fort Mill solar panel manufacturing facility

Silfab Solar Inc. Since the bill was signed, manufacturing companies have announced more than two dozen new projects in South Carolina, many of which are in the EV and battery sector (WSOC)

FORT MILL, S.C. — A judge has declined to halt construction at a controversial solar panel manufacturing facility in Fort Mill.

Channel 9 has followed the story for more than a year now. A group of concerned citizens filed an injunction against Siflab Solar, claiming their planned factory would hurt local health and property values.

Silfab Solar filed another case, asking the court to reverse a zoning board of appeals decision that ruled solar panel manufacturing does not meet light industrial standards.

The Silfab Solar facility has the necessary state and county permits for construction and plans on opening early this year.
