UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators search for more possible victims after tennis coach charged with child sex crimes
Lt. James Maye with the Union County Sheriff’s Office said investigators are working with the accuser who came forward and said her private tennis coach Timi Kano Solomon, 47, sexually assaulted her.
“I think it’s huge -- a victim places their trust in our office, and we want to make sure that we do the best job we can do for them,” Maye said.
Deputies want to ensure there are no other victims out there.
“We do want the community to help us,” Maye said. “If there is someone else out there that’s been a victim.”
Detectives with the UCSO Special Victims Unit launched an investigation into Solomon in December 2024 after the young victim came forward.
According to the sheriff’s office, the accuser was under 16 years old at the time of the allegations.
Court documents indicate the offense took place in June of 2024.
“We know he’s been coaching in the area for two to three years,” Maye said. “This victim, the victim in this case, had a long-standing relationship with this coach, and so there was a sense of trust, if you will, between when this incident occurred. More often what we see in sexual assault cases involving children is the offender is a known friend, relative, or someone who is very close to that victim.”
Solomon was arrested and later released after posting bail on a $100,000 secured bond.
Maye said for parents to always stay vigilant.
