CRAMERTON, N.C. — A group of neighbors in Cramerton are trying to figure out how their cars caught fire overnight Monday.
Fire crews said they were called out to the South Fork Village Apartments off of Wilkinson Boulevard around 12:30 a.m.
One resident shared footage of the fire with Channel 9’s Ken Lemon. In it, you can see the flames rolling off of four cars at the back of the complex.
Smoke billowed for several minutes even as firefighters poured water on cars.
In the footage, you can occasionally hear a banging or popping sound from the flames and what appears to be car alarms.
Firefighters were able to contain the damage to just four cars, but all of them were totaled.
We reached out to the Gaston County Fire Marshall’s Office to see if they have a cause, and we’ll update you as soon as we learn more.
