Two horses die after trailer overturns in northwest Charlotte crash

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte Fire said two horses did not survive after a trailer they were in crashed in northwest Charlotte Friday night.

A horse trailer overturned and went approximately 25 feet down an embankment on Brookshire Boulevard. The crash occurred around 8:40 p.m.

Multiple crews and veterinarians worked through the night to free the horses.

Aaron Mustafa, a business near the scene, described the chaos.

“All you see is a bunch of fire going across the street.... that’s as far as I can see,” said Mustafa.

CFD said one horse did survive and is receiving more care.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
