CHARLOTTE — A fatal crash is under investigation in north Charlotte Thursday evening.
It happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Statesville Road and Twin Lakes Parkway.
At the scene, officers found a Dodge Charger and a Toyota Corolla off the roadway, with damage to both vehicles’ front ends.
The driver of the Toyota, 35-year-old Julian Allen, was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Dodge Charger was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
An initial investigation indicates the Toyota was traveling north on Statesville Road and crossed the double yellow line and collided with the Dodge Charger that was traveling south.
Both vehicles then left the roadway and came to rest, according to police.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, further investigation will be needed to determine if impairment or speed is a factor in this case.
However, no additional details have been made available.
