Meteor spotted over Carolinas during Bootids shower, NASA confirms

A meteor streaked across the skies of the Carolinas at 30,000 mph during the Bootids meteor shower Thursday afternoon, NASA confirmed.

The meteor, which weighed a ton and measured 3 feet in diameter, disintegrated 27 miles above West Forest, Georgia, southeast of Atlanta, NASA confirmed.

The meteor’s descent caused damage to a home, leaving a golf ball-sized hole in the ceiling and cracking a laminate floor.

Law enforcement in the area mentioned that the weather service expects more fireballs could be on the way.

As the Bootids meteor shower continues, residents are advised to be aware of potential meteor activity.
