INDIAN LAND, N.C. — Residents of Indian Land are voicing concerns over a proposed development that plans to add 853 new homes near Van Wyck Road and Charlotte Highway.
The development, named ‘Cresswind,’ is proposed by Kolter Group Acquisitions and includes a 55-and-up community with 13 acres designated for general business use.
“I don’t think that we have the infrastructure to accommodate that many more homes,” said Freida Thomas, a neighbor concerned about increased traffic congestion.
Kathy Wallace, another resident, acknowledged the growth, stating, “It is gonna increase the traffic. The choice is either deal with it or move.”
The proposal includes commitments from the builder for off-site traffic improvements, such as turn lanes on Van Wyck Road and Highway 521 at Henry Harris.
A public hearing is scheduled for February 18th, allowing residents to express their thoughts on the development proposal.
