CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in northwest Charlotte.
Police said they received a call to assist MEDIC around 6 p.m. at the Loyalty Inn on Lucky Penny Street.
At the scene, a man was found dead inside a room at the hotel from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to police.
While it is unclear what led up to the incident, police said it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
“Anytime that we have anything like this, it’s a tragedy. No matter what the circumstances are, no matter where it is in Charlotte, it’s a tragedy. One Life lost is too many,” said Major Michael Ford.
No additional details have been made available.
