Children scatter after shots fired in west Charlotte neighborhood, witness says

CHARLOTTE — A driver is saying gunfire sent children scattering in a west Charlotte neighborhood.

It occurred on Reid Oaks Drive just before 3 p.m.

Channel 9 crews observed several police vehicles in the area.

Reid Oaks Drive was also blocked off with crime scene tape.

Channel 9′s Jonathan Lowe spoke with a neighbor who said they witnessed the shooting.

“We saw kids coming home from school. I was crossing the road, and all I heard was ‘pow pow pow.’ Kids started running. I went behind the fence because all I knew was that I needed to get home and check on my mama. I was like, ‘What is going on?” that neighbor explained.

No injuries have been reported.
