CHARLOTTE — The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed a chase that began in Mooresville Thursday morning ended in a crash on Interstate 77 in south Charlotte.
Officials say they responded to reports of a stolen car just before 4:30 a.m.
Department of Transportation cameras caught troopers chasing the car into Charlotte just after 5 a.m. Then, around 5:20 a.m., the suspects crashed into two other cars on the northbound lanes just before Clanton Road.
MEDIC says the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police are still searching for the passenger.
The reason for the chase is not yet known.
