CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte City Council voted Monday night to lease city space to Classy Scoops Ice Cream Lounge.

Councilmember Renee Johnson encouraged the city council to explore ways to support small businesses by leasing space in city parking decks. She says businesses have struggled in other city parking decks.

The lease involves 1,600 square feet of space at the University City Boulevard parking deck for 60 months.

The ice cream shop will pay a little more than $3,000 per month in rent, according to the city.
