Charlotte City Council approves safety improvements for Sunset Road

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte City Council is upgrading a busy and dangerous road. Council unanimously voted to spend more than $5.8 million upgrading Sunset Road from Kiev Drive to Day Lily Lane.

The city of Charlotte says the project will improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity in the area.

Plans call for a new sidewalk, wheelchair ramps, curb and gutter, drainage improvements, driveway improvements, and pavement markings.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will contribute $1.87 million to the project.

The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2027.
