BURKE, N.C. — North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Airport Rhodhiss Road that resulted in two fatalities on Sunday night.
Officials said Gregory Neal Huffman, 54, succumbed to injuries on scene after losing control of his car, crossing the road’s center line and colliding head-on with Charles Verle Kistler Jr., 45.
Huffman was not wearing a seatbelt, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.
Kistler succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital while being transported by EMS, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.
Officials closed Airport Rhodhiss Road for two hours to conduct an on-scene investigation. Initial investigations indicate speed to be a contributing factor, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.
