CLADWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies in Caldwell County are investigating after a body was found down an embankment.
It happened along Playmore Beach Road south of Lenoir. Officers said a vehicle was found nearby.
Channel 9’s Dave Faherty learned that the victim was identified as 37-year-old Casey Shaun Wilcox of Hudson.
Authorities told Faherty that Collettsville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and worked to recover Wilcox’s body from the water.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Wilcox during this difficult time,” said Sheriff Kevin H. Bean.
However, no additional details have been made available.
The investigation remains ongoing.
