Another arrest made in Catawba County mass shooting investigation; new search warrants released

Federal, state, local investigators return to scene of Catawba County mass shooting

CATWABA COUNTY, N.C. — Another person has been arrested in connection with the mass shooting at a house party in Catawba County earlier this month.

On Thursday, the sheriff’s office announced that Charles Rodell Kincaid III had been arrested in this case, the ninth suspect in the case.

He has been charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder.

The charges stem from a mass shooting during a pool party on Walnut Acres Drive that left one man dead and 11 others hurt.

Kincaid is allegedly connected to the previous suspects in this shooting. Those suspects are Garon Killian, Toland Huff, Zachary Bates, Ke’andre Mack, and Izaiah Mitchell.

Channel 9’s Dave Faherty got access to new search warrants on Thursday.

According to the court documents, days before the shooting, Garon Killian, who is charged with attempted first-degree murder, met with some of the other suspects at the home where the party took place. The search warrant says he asked them to “scope the party out” and that he intended to “air it out” at a party of more than one hundred people.

Court documents say Killian told investigators at the time of his arrest that he had “firsthand knowledge of the shooting” and the people involved. They were later charged with multiple counts of attempted 1st degree murder and accused early on of all being members of a gang known nationwide.
