University of South Carolina issues all-clear after reported active shooter

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Around 8 p.m. on Sunday, the University of South Carolina issued an all-clear after a reported active shooter.

Around 6:30 p.m., students got an alert of an active shooter on campus. The suspect was reported as a white man with black pants, approximately 6 feet tall and in the area.

Just after 7 p.m., the school sent out a message saying there was no evidence of an active shooter at the time. Police continued to search the affected areas.

Although the Thomas Cooper Library remained closed, the school said there was no ongoing emergency at the time.
