Deadly home invasion connected to another homicide in Anson County, investigators say

WADESBORO, N.C. — Investigators in Anson County believe two deadly shootings are connected.

A 60-year-old man was found dead from a gunshot wound after a home invasion in Wadesboro.

Deputies from the Anson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting on Global Road at approximately 2:39 a.m. on Feb. 4 Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Claude Burns, who had been shot.

Witnesses inside the home reported that they were asleep at the time of the shooting and were awakened by the sound of gunfire. They saw someone running away.

Investigators said this deadly shooting is related to another one that happened a half-mile away on the same day.

Hours after Burns was killed, investigators found a man who was shot and killed at Hildreth Mobile Park.

They said there was an argument between several people and a fight over a handgun.

The sheriff said the victim, K.C. White, was a person of interest in Burns’ death.

They believe the man who pulled the trigger on White was Dezmond Shine.

He was taken into custody three weeks later in Richmond County and is back in Anson County facing murder charges.

Channel 9 is asking investigators how Burns and the other two men knew each other.

The sheriff says both homicides are still under investigation and that if you have any information, contact detectives.
