CHARLOTTE — Police have arrested a woman in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in west Charlotte Tuesday night.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said they responded to a call about a shooting at an apartment on Leake Street around 10 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a man shot to death inside. MEDIC said the victim died at the scene.
Police identified the victim as Jadarrian Boyd.
Police have since arrested Shakara Sinclair. According to an arrest warrant, officers charged her with first-degree murder.
Investigators said there’s a large effort underway to prevent violence like this.
“It’s very unfortunate. There’s a lot of work that’s gone into building bridges with the folks that live here and work here,” CMPD Maj. Dave Johnson told Channel 9. “There’s been a lot of investment, not just by our department but other city agencies.”
Detectives believe the shooting was related to domestic violence.
We’re asking about the relationship Sinclair may have had with Boyd.
