CHARLOTTE — MEDIC responded to a shooting along the 3300 block of Freedom Drive on Saturday night.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said three people were shot and sent to the hospital. One victim is being treated for life-threatening injuries, MEDIC said. The other two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Memphis rapper Mario “Grove Hero” Bradley has identified himself through social media as one of the victims. One of his Instagram posts shows that he was on tour a tour stop in Charlotte, Thursday through Saturday.
Officials told Channel 9’s Glenn Counts that the shooting occurred just outside the Boost Mobile on Freedom Drive.
Police closed off the parking lot and set up several scenes as they investigated.
Video on Bradley’s Instagram story shows him in the Boost Mobile parking lot with several other people hours before the shooting. Then it shows Bradley in the hospital that night, and then him leaving the hospital in the morning.
Bradley said the tour will go on, though. In a Facebook post he said that he will be in the same place in a wheelchair today.
“No Fire, shooting or nothing stopping me from helping my people,” he said in the post.
Bradley is known for charity work in his hometown and abroad, according to Fox 13 Memphis.
He has built a playground in his hometown and bought and renovated several homes in the area to provide rent-free housing to those going through difficult times, FOX 13 reported.
According to Bradley’s social media, he recently paid to build a well in Burkina Faso to provide free water.
