Stanly County sheriff identifies suspect shot, killed by deputies

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — The Stanly County sheriff identified a suspect who was shot and killed by deputies on Monday.

It happened as Stanly County sheriff’s deputies were attempting to serve arrest warrants near Community Road.

A deputy fired one shot, hitting and killing Jason Trexler, the sheriff said. No officers were injured. Trexler has a lengthy criminal history.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation will be handling the investigation into this shooting.
