CHARLOTTE — An officer was shot in the leg in uptown Charlotte Sunday morning, CMPD says. The suspect is in custody.
The officer was responding to a domestic fight outside apartments at the intersection of Graham Street and 10th street shortly after 6:00 a.m.
According to CMPD, the suspect fought with the officer and the officer was shot in the leg. Other officers arrived on scene and caught the suspect, who was running away.
Police have not released the suspect’s name.
The officer who was shot went to the hospital in a patrol car and had surgery. He is no longer in critical condition and is expected to be okay, CMPD says.
No additional details have been made available.
